Aurora Animal Shelter’s only veterinarian left the shelter August 7 and many of the shelter’s routine operations will be impacted. Aurora Animal Shelter is seeking two part-time veterinarian positions. See the job listing here. Until those positions are filled, the shelter is asking area practices and organizations for help with veterinary services, especially dental procedures.

CVMA is sharing this request on behalf of Aurora Animal Shelter. Arrangements, pricing and scheduling are handled directly between your practice and Aurora Animal Shelter.

If your practice can help, the information below is what the shelter needs in order to plan.

If you can assist with dental procedures or other veterinary services

• Which surgeries, dental procedures, or other services is your organization willing to take on for shelter-owned animals?
• If a complication arises from a procedure performed at your facility, how would your organization prefer to handle follow-up care or a corrective procedure?
• How many procedures or appointments could your organization commit to per day or per week?
• What are your fees for surgeries and procedures? A detailed list of services and fees is especially helpful.
• What are your transportation preferences — shelter staff transporting to and from your facility, your staff transporting when available, or another arrangement?
• When would animals need to be dropped off and picked up before and after a procedure?
• Does your organization have any limitations or guidelines around drop-offs and pickups?
• Can you suggest other organizations that might be able to help with surgeries or procedures?
