Nominations for 2026 Are Now Open 

Each year, Colorado Veterinary Medical Association proudly honors individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on veterinary medicine in Colorado.

From trusted colleagues and mentors to long-standing champions of the profession, the CVMA Awards Program celebrates those who elevate our community through excellence, commitment, and care.

Nominations for the 2026 CVMA Awards are now open and close on March 31, 2026.
2026 award recipients will be announced and celebrated at CVMA Convention 2026 on June 25, 2026.

Who Should You Nominate?

Think about the people who make a difference every day, sometimes quietly, sometimes boldly.

You may want to nominate someone who:

  • Leads with integrity, compassion, and professionalism
  • Has made meaningful contributions to veterinary medicine in Colorado
  • Serves as a mentor, advocate, or role model for others
  • Has demonstrated long-term dedication to the profession

If someone comes to mind, this is your opportunity to recognize them.

CVMA Annual Awards

Veterinarian of the Year

The Veterinarian of the Year Award recognizes a CVMA member veterinarian whose career reflects excellence, leadership, and significant contributions to the veterinary profession in Colorado.

Recipients of this award represent the very best of our profession — through clinical practice, education, research, public service, advocacy, or mentorship.

Eligibility at a glance:

  • Must be a current CVMA member veterinarian
  • Must not have received the Veterinarian of the Year Award within the past 10 years
  • Open to veterinarians in any professional role, including retired members

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service to the advancement of veterinary medicine in Colorado over an extended period of time.

This award recognizes sustained commitment and lasting impact — whether through leadership, service, advocacy, education, or support of the profession.

Eligibility at a glance:

  • Open to anyone serving the veterinary profession
  • Not limited to veterinarians or CVMA members
  • Must not have received a CVMA award within the past 10 years

What Happens After You Submit a Nomination?
  • All nominations are reviewed by a CVMA-appointed committee
  • Submissions are confidential
  • Recipients are selected based on impact, service, and professional contributions
  • Award winners will be formally recognized at CVMA Convention 2026
