New Board of Directors takes the helm during CVMA Convention 2022

Leading a veterinary organization requires passion and dedication from a strong team of leaders. CVMA’s members applauded the 2022-2023 CVMA Board of Directors as they stepped into their new roles during the CVMA Membership Meeting at CVMA Convention 2022.

AVMA District 9 Representative Melanie Marsden, DVM installed the 2022-2023 CVMA Board of Directors September 30 during the member meeting and breakfast in Keystone, Colorado.

The 2022-2023 CVMA Board of Directors includes:

  • Steven Dick, DVM: President
  • Kelly Walsh, DVM: President-elect
  • Michelle Larsen, DVM: Secretary/Treasurer
  • Kayla Henderson, DVM: Secretary/Treasurer-elect
  • Ashley Ackley, DVM, MS: Immediate Past President
  • Curtis Crawford, DVM: AVMA Delegate
  • Peter Hellyer, DVM, MS, DACVA: AVMA Alternate Delegate

Dr. Kayla Henderson is a San Luis Valley native and third generation cow calf rancher. She earned her bachelor’s degree in equine science and business administration, with honors, magna cum laude from Colorado State University in 2008, followed by her DVM, with honors, cum laude in 2012. She volunteered at Alpine Vet Hospital as a teenager, and then became an associate veterinarian in 2012, and finally an owner/partner in 2019. She loves every aspect of rural mixed animal practice and is a passionate advocate for the profession and lifestyle at the state and national levels. Dr. Henderson is the SLV Chapter Representative for CVMA and serves as a member or committee chair on several local and state boards. She enjoys equine medicine and lameness, herd health care, general small animal practice, and teaching and mentorship.
