Memorial Tribute for Dr. Shelley Ekstrom

We honor and remember Dr. Shelley Ekstrom, a cherished veterinarian at Indian Tree Animal Hospital, who tragically lost her life in an accident in October 2024. Dr. Ekstrom’s journey in veterinary medicine began in 2002, and her unwavering compassion and dedication to animal care quickly established her as a beloved figure in her community.

Since joining Indian Tree Animal Hospital in 2015, Dr. Ekstrom treated countless pets and formed lasting connections with numerous families. Dr. Ekstrom consistently prioritized her patients, treating them with the utmost care and respect as if they were her own family. Her ability to connect with animals and their families went far beyond her professional duties; she truly understood the profound bond between humans and their beloved pets.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Ekstrom had a profound love for the Colorado outdoors. She was an adventurous spirit who found joy in exploring breathtaking landscapes and appreciating nature’s beauty. A world traveler, motorcyclist, and talented artist, Dr. Ekstrom embraced life with passion and creativity.

As we reflect on Dr. Ekstrom’s life, we honor not only her incredible contributions as a veterinarian, but the warmth and kindness she extended to all. She was more than a practitioner; she was a friend, an advocate for all creatures great and small, and an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dr. Ekstrom had a soft spot for puppies and would often sneak into puppy classes to indulge in some puppy love. Her beloved Corgi, Matilda, was a testament to her deep affection for Corgi’s.

The loss of Dr. Ekstrom has been deeply felt by her loving family, devoted clients and patients, and the entire team at Indian Tree Animal Hospital. She touched countless lives, and her absence has left a significant void in our hearts and in our community. Dr. Ekstrom’s legacy of compassion and dedication will forever be remembered and cherished.
