The American Veterinary Medical Association recently shared this information with CVMA:
On November 25, the FDA sent warning letters to 15 companies for illegally selling various products containing cannabidiol. Violations cited in those letters include marketing unapproved new human and animal drugs, selling CBD products as dietary supplements, and adding CBD to human and animal foods. FDA has issued a press release describing their findings and concerns, available here. The letters may be accessed from that release and also directly from this page here.
Of interest, is that one of the products included in a warning letter is a product intended for use in food-producing animals. Read the letter here.
The FDA has also revised its consumer update located here to reflect new information.
