This bill was passed on June 9, 2020 after the legislature resumed following a recess due to COVID-19. It is awaiting signature by the governor before it is enacted into law.
How does this legislation impact me as a veterinarian?
This bill has little direct impact on veterinarians; the larger impact is on animal welfare. It will grant express authority to Bureau of Animal Protection Agents to investigate animal cruelty and neglect cases, whereas previously there was some uncertainty about an agent’s ability to investigate these cases.
