CVMA Nominating Committee selects candidates for board positions

The CVMA Nominating Committee has nominated the candidates below for roles on the CVMA Board of Directors for 2020-2021.

In accordance with the CVMA Bylaws, the CVMA membership may put forth a candidate by petition with the signature of 2.5% of the voting DVM membership (or 46 members) within 14 days of this notice. If no alternative candidates are advanced by the petition process, CVMA Bylaws call for the CVMA secretary/treasurer to declare as winners the candidates identified by the Nominating Committee, and no election will be held. To put forth alternative candidates for consideration, please email CVMA ([email protected]) with 46 voting member signatures by noon MT on Sunday, September 27.

Ashley Ackley, DVM | President-Elect

Dr. Ashley Ackley is a Colorado native and a proud Colorado State University Ram for her undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary degrees. She completed an internship in emergency medicine and practiced at Animal Urgent Care for three years before transitioning to general practice for continued growth as a well-rounded practitioner. Emergency medicine is her passion, and Dr. Ackley rejoined Animal Urgent Care in August 2019 as the associate medical director. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture, Fear Free and has served on the CVMA Board of Directors since 2018. In her free time, you can find her volunteering with Metro Denver Partners, traveling the world with Vet Treks, mountain biking with her very tolerant partner Jacob, and doting on her three rescue mutts and ancient Siamese cat.

Kelly Walsh, DVM | Secretary/Treasurer-Elect

Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital
Colorado Springs, CO
 A true Colorado native, Dr. Kelly Walsh earned her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Colorado State University after serving in the Army. Dr. Walsh offers her unique certifications as a veterinary chiropractor and a canine rehabilitation practitioner in her current role at Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital. In 2017 and 2018, Dr. Walsh participated on the CVMA and Colorado Chiropractic Association Joint Task Force where she worked to draft a legislative bill regarding altering the oversight needed by chiropractic doctors to be able to work on veterinary patients. She has served on the CVMA Chapter 7 | Colorado Springs Area leadership team since 2014, and currently serves as chapter representative for CVMA Chapter 7. Dr. Walsh also hold leadership roles with the U.S. Eventing Association and the Bijou Springs Hunt Association. Dr. Walsh shares her life with her husband, two dogs, four cats, and thoroughbred horses. She participates in horse trials and loves to go camping, hiking, and scuba diving.
