My final report as your AVMA delegate,

Greetings from Chicago (well, virtually)! AVMA has completed the first hybrid (in-person and remote) House of Delegates (HOD) meeting. Your Colorado representation was also hybrid with Drs. Curtis Crawford and Melanie Marsden in Chicago and myself in Colorado via Zoom.

The HOD elected Dr. Lori Teller as president-elect. This was a historic election as it was the first with two women candidates. Congratulations to Dr. Teller! Click here to read more about Dr. Teller’s election as president-elect.

The HOD discussed nine resolutions and two Veterinary Information Forum topics in addition to receiving updates from AVMA officers and staff. Six resolutions were passed and three referred back to the AVMA Board of Directors for distribution to respective councils for additional expert opinion. These three resolutions will be revisited at the winter meeting in January of 2022. Details can be found on the AVMA website.

AVMA continues to provide tools via the website and AXON to help veterinarians in day to day practice, health and well-being.

Thank you for the honor of allowing me serve you at the state and national level. Dr. Curtis Crawford will continue to do his usual amazing job of servant leadership in his role as delegate for Colorado. Plus, his updates will be more entertaining!

Stay well,

Rebecca Ruch-Gallie, DVM
