September 10, 2024: Ballot Initiative #145 has been announced as Proposition #129 by the Secretary of State and will appear on Colorado voter’s ballots this November.
August 2024: Final count and validation for inclusion on the November ballot via the Secretary of State will be available by September 4, 2024
July 29, 2024: Proponents have submitted signatures gathered. The Secretary of State is verifying signatures.
July 2024: A multi-organization coalition that includes CVMA called KEEP OUR PETS SAFE has launched a public campaign opposing Proposition 129.
Summer 2024: Proponents are gathering [120,000+] signatures needed for this initiative to appear on November’s ballot.
January 11, 2024: Initiative #145: Establish Qualifications and Registration for Veterinary Professional Associate was filed by a coalition of animal welfare groups, including the Dumb Friends League and the ASPCA. The CVMA Board of Directors and Advocacy Commission is closely monitoring this ballot initiative.
