CVMA’s Professional Development Series provides an outstanding lineup of learning experiences to deepen your knowledge of biomedical science. Nationally recognized speakers will take you on a “deep dive” into each topic as they discuss recent advances in veterinary medicine – PLUS the tips you need to apply this knowledge tomorrow! The sessions cover essential topics in clinical education, featuring case-based, interactive sessions with experts sharing their experience and insights. Each session is suitable for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Note: The fall Professional Development Series program will include one fall session in 2019. CVMA is evaluating its education programs for 2020 and will update this website with information about 2020 CE as soon as information becomes available.

Get to the heart of the latest information on cardiology. Join four cardiologists from Petcardia Veterinary Cardiology as they cover four important topics designed to take your cardiology knowledge to the next level:

  • Canine valvular disease
    • ​Get the latest on clinically relevant topics for the diagnosis and management of dogs with valvular disease. This lecture will cover the ACVIM consensus statement, EPIC study, and treatment of acute and chronic congestive heart failure. Complicating factors such as pulmonary hypertension, syncope, chronic coughing and arrhythmias will also be discussed.
  • Heart failure management panel 
    • Four cardiologists from Petcardia Veterinary Cardiology will have a round table discussion about the management of congestive heart failure. This will include recent updates in management, particularly challenging cases, and variations of management by each doctor. Questions from attendees will be encouraged.
  • Small group ECG workshop
    • Attendees will be divided into smaller groups to work through ECGs with one of the cardiologists.  These will range from basic review ECGs to more complex arrhythmias that may be seen in clinical practice. Therapeutic approaches to the arrhythmias will also be discussed.
  • Canine cardiomyopathy 
    • Current diagnostic and treatment strategies for dogs with cardiomyopathy. The most common forms of cardiomyopathy, including idiopathic, nutritional, and breed-specific conditions, will be discussed in detail.
