Other Online Resources

The following list is only a sampling of information available online.  Websites listed here do not constitute an endorsement from CVMA.

AVMA
The American Veterinary Medical Association Web site offers public resources for animal health, public health, careers, and educators. Their Animal Health section covers pet care, animal health topics, disaster preparedness, frequently asked questions, and health awareness events. The following topics are just a few covered on the AVMA Web site.

First aid tips for pet owners
First aid is not a substitute for veterinary care, but it may save your pet’s life until you can get veterinary treatment. Learn how to prepare for pet medical emergencies, stock a first aid kit for your pets, and administer basic first aid to dogs, cats and other animals.

Pet Care
AVMA’s Pet Care pages offer valuable information for pet owners, including podcasts, videos, and information on responsible pet ownership, preventive care, health and safety tips, holiday safety, enjoying travel and the outdoors with your pet, and saying goodbye.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
EPA’s Safer Choice helps consumers, businesses, and purchasers find products that perform well and are safer for human health and the environment. They have also created resources for pet owners about making safer choices for the health and protection of pets, including “Read the Label First! Protect Your Pets” and “Safer Choice for Pet Owners“PDFs.
