Bovine Medicine: Hoof Trimming & Liver Biopsy

Join us for a day of instruction and hands-on learning on the assessment and treatment of cattle hoof imbalances & lesions in general practice. Learn techniques and tips for field restraint, examination, diagnosis and treatment of the bovine hoof. Perspectives from both dairy & beef production will be taught on live animals and real cases. Liver biopsy technique, importance, application and interpretation will be presented, followed by the opportunity to perform the procedure yourself.

Hands-on learning topics include:

  • Dairy cow restraint, examination and hoof trimming
  • Beef cow restraint, examination and hoof trimming
  • Proper chute and tool usage
  • Treatment of common diseases, imbalances & lesions of dairy cows & beef cattle
  • Liver Biopsy procedure & results interpretation
  • Claw amputation & joint fusion practice on cadaver specimen

CE CREDITS
CE approval is pending for 8 hours of education through the Colorado State Board of Veterinary Medicine. In order to earn the CE credits, attendees must participate in each of the presentations throughout the program. A Record of Participation will be given at registration, which you will retain for your files.
