Certified Veterinary Assistant Program

CVMA is proud to recognize and certify the designation of CVMA Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA). The CVMA CVA program provides continuing education for veterinary medical personnel, enabling them to become more informed, skilled, and trusted members of the veterinary medical team. This program was designed to help staff to pursue veterinary medicine as a career, not just a job. Investing in your employees saves your practice from having to deal with less turnover for your practice and costly replacement and re-training efforts!

CVA Program Features

Online Education – Approximately 40 hours of videos and web based training on basic veterinary assisting fundamentals. As an added benefit to your hospital, the CVA online curriculum is available for up to 20 employees and comes with access to ACT’s complete training library.

Skills Development – A CVA must demonstrate competency in dozens of foundational skills.

Work Experience – On-the-job training is an important element in this educational model. The CVA is required to accumulate 500 hours of practical, supervised work experience.

Testing – An online exam comprised of 100 randomly generated questions insures that CVAs possess a sound knowledge base.
