As medicinal and recreational cannabis becomes legal in more states across the country, the health benefits of one of the plant’s compounds, cannabidiol
(also known as CBD), are also becoming more apparent. While CBD has been used to treat various medical conditions in humans, little is known about how pets respond to the compound. Now, with funding from S. David Moche with Applied Basic Science Corporation, researchers at Colorado State University are moving forward with the first cannabis studies on dogs. The findings from which should inform veterinarians on how to accurately advise their clients if they wish to treat their pet using CBD.
